Laugh and the whole world laughs with you, Weep and you probably saw a very bad attempt at a humorous advertisement.

My business is not all funny business. justADhumor is more about an attitude than just humorous advertising. Some things are not to be communicated in a joking manner.

I studied humorous advertising thoroughly in my Master's Program at the University of Tennessee. I understand how to narrow down the candidates for using humor in advertising and because I perform as a stand up comic I also understand how to set up the humor and provide the punch line. Much like stand up comedy you must understand your audience first. There is nothing worse than presenting intellectual comedy to.........well.......... let's say a nonintellectual crowd.

Most people fear using humor to sell their product/service, and their fear is correct. Humor in advertising should be approached like a wild animal. Understand how it reacts to certain people and treat it with respect.

In addition, if you decide on humor as an approach go into it whole heartedly. If you become hesitant you may try to leave out crucial parts of the set up or punch. This will only set your advertisement up to be torn apart by an audience of Laughing Hyenas. I myself have never done any bad humorous ads that I will admit to creating. Let's just say there were some learning experiences.
